Designed by RMJM architects, and built by BAM Construction, preliminary work on the building began in summer 2008 and was handed over to the LMB on 26th November 2012. In overall structure the building is reminiscent of paired chromosomes, with two long laboratory areas joined by a spacious atrium containing seminar rooms and a lecture theatre.
